 July 2016 Statement:
Turkish Academic Freedom & Higher Education

ISTR has signed on to the statement of MESA (Middle East Studies Association)
with regard to 
threats to academic freedom and higher education in Turkey
in the wake of the failed coup attempt of July 15-16.

To date, over fifty US and European scholarly associations have signed on to the statement. 
As a scholarly association, ISTR shares in the commitment to the principles of academic freedom and freedom of expression.
